Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of March 20 to March 26, 2019.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.
March 20
• Deputies responded to the 400 block of Avalon Canyon Road regarding a broken window. The window was accidently broken by a gardener.
March 21
• Deputies received a call of an adult annoying school children at the Avalon School. A crime report was written and the investigation is ongoing.
March 22
• Deputies contacted an individual near Catalina Avenue and Crescent Avenue who was suicidal. Deputies transported the subject to a hospital on the mainland where he could get the help that he needed.
• Deputies responded to the 200 block of Metropole Avenue regarding a possible child abuse incident. A criminal investigation was conducted. Deputies learned that the child was not injured and that no criminal laws were violated.
March 23
• Deputies responded to People’s Park regarding two people arguing. Deputies determined no crimes had occurred. The incident was verbal only.
March 24
• Deputies responded to Hamilton Cove to assist security guards regarding a noise complaint. The disturbing party was cooperative.
March 25
• Avalon Station Deputies attended a boating safety course with the Coast Guard to address maritime issues around the island. The course was very informative.
March 26
• Deputies arrested Jerry Hull of Huntington Beach on suspicion of being drunk in public and suspicion of causing a disturbance in the 100 block of Maiden Lane.
