  • Deputies responded to a disturbance on the 100 block of Sumner Avenue. The caller stated a patron was arguing with a security guard. Deputies contacted both parties and discovered the dispute was over security not allowing the man inside due to his questionable identification. The deputies advised the man the Sheriff’s Department would not be involved in who the business allowed inside.

June 4

  • Deputies responded to the 500 block of crescent Avenue for a suspicious person call. The caller stated a transient was inside the restroom and was refusing to leave. The deputies contacted the man and asked him politely to leave the location.

  • Deputies responded to a third suspicious person call involving the same man. This time the call was on the 800 block of Beacon Street. The deputies having developed a rapport with the man determined he was not from the island and could not afford to pay for his travel back to the mainland. The deputies drove the man to the Mole and arranged for him to leave on the next departing boat. The man was thankful and appreciative of the deputies compassion.
  • Deputies responded to the 800 block of Country Club Drive regarding a disturbance. The caller stated a male was arguing with a female and he had possibly taken items from her. The deputies spoke to the man and woman and determined they were arguing over her texting another man. They also determined the woman had thrown the man’s suitcase and backpack into a dumpster outside. The man recovered his property and the woman left on the next departing boat.
