Sheriff’s Log for May 28 to June 3

The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of May 28 to June 3.

“It is important to note that no assumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the content of the information provided in this report.  Many people who get arrested do not get convicted or even charged with crimes for which they have been arrested,” said Capt. Doug Fetteroll, commander of the Station.

May 28

The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of May 28 to June 3.

May 28

Thomas Perez, M26, a resident of Chino Hills, was arrested for drunk in public after being found partially clothed lying on Sumner Avenue.

• Shane Jordan, M/20, was arrested for possession of Psilocybin (Mushrooms) at the Cabrillo Mole.

• An Avalon resident was cited for possession of marijuana on Pebbly Road at Lover’s Cove.

•  Deputies arrested Luis Tamayo, M/27, an Avalon resident, for driving under the influence of alcohol on Pebbly Road.   

May 29   

No significant incidents.

May 30

• Deputies assisted a local property manager with removing numerous young men from two separate condominium units in the 300 block of Clemente Avenue after their conduct was deemed disruptive and dangerous to the other residents.  Irresponsible alcohol consumption was a major factor in the incident.     

May 31

• Three minors were cited for possession of alcohol on Pebbly Road.

•  A resident reported that someone tried to steal their golf cart from the 300 block of Sumner Avenue.

June 1

• Deputies located the suspect who tried to steal the golf cart from the previous night.  

Johnny Follis, M/28, a resident of Colorado, was arrested for attempted grand theft vehicle and for resisting arrest, resulting in injuries to two deputies.  

Deputies also arrested Kevin Clemens, M/22, a resident of San Diego, for interfering with the deputies while they were attempting to arrest Mr. Folis.    

June 2

• A 43-year-old Avalon resident was arrested for spousal assault.  

June 3

• No significant incidents.

• The Sheriff’s Youth Activities League held a skateboarding event at the skate park, which featured the return of professional skateboarder Preston Pollard.  

The event focused on the importance of wearing helmets and was made possible by Ken Putnam who generously donated 10 skateboards to the YAL.  

The musical entertainment was provided by Ricardo Ramirez and the free food and drinks were provided by CHOICES.  

Two lucky students won skateboards donated by Justin Reynolds from Riviera Skateboards.

Golf carts

Three golf carts were reported stolen.  

One was recovered within 10 minutes and had been borrowed by a neighbor.

The second was recovered within an hour and was accidentally taken by a family member.  

The third was recovered with 90 minutes and the victim was non-desirous of prosecution.
