The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Jan. 22 to Jan. 28.

January 22
• No significant incidents.

January 22
• No significant incidents.
January 23
• A golf cart was reported stolen from an alley near Marilla Avenue.
• At 5:15 p.m., Rosa Valenzuela, female, 50, an Avalon resident, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.
January 24
• No significant incidents.
January 25
• At 12:30 p.m., Isaac Rios, male, 19, an Avalon resident, was arrested on suspicion of stealing the golf cart that was reported stolen on January 23. He was booked for Grand Theft Auto.
January 26
• At 11:15 p.m., Jefferey Kirkpatrick, male, 28, an Avalon resident, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public.
January 27
• At 8:45 a.m., Alexander Vishmid, male, 46, a resident of Studio City, was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant.
• The Student Council from Avalon High School brought a banner, signed by students of all grades, and homemade cookies to the Sheriff’s Station to express their appreciation for the efforts of our deputies. The gesture was much appreciated by all personnel. The cookies were quickly devoured and the banner was hung in the Dispatch Center.
January 28
• A hit and run was reported to a vehicle parked on Metropole Avenue. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call station detectives.
• At 1:10 p.m., Juan Martinez, male, 23, a resident of Avalon, was arrested on suspicion of battery.
• At 3:20 p.m., Herbert Sadd, male, 68, and Deborah Salazar, female, 64, both residents of Avalon, were arrested on suspicion of burglary.
Deputy to retire
The Sheriff’s Station announced Deputy Mark Brooks is retiring after 30 years of service to the citizens of Los Angeles County including the last four years at Avalon Station.
