Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Feb. 20 to Feb. 26, 2019. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.
February 27
- Deputies issued a citation to a motorist at Tremont Avenue and Sumner Avenue for failing to stop at a stop sign.
February 28
- Deputies and the fire department responded to the 200 block of Beacon Street regarding a medical emergency. An 88-year-old male died of natural causes.
March 1
- Deputies arrested Juan Nava from Avalon for allegedly possessing methamphetamine in the 200 block of Catalina Avenue.
March 2
- Deputies arrested Jaime Rangel from Avalon for allegedly possessing methamphetamine in the 300 block of Metropole Avenue.
- Deputies arrested Scott Castle from Avalon for allegedly driving while intoxicated in the 200 block of Metropole Avenue.
March 3
- Deputies responded to the 300 block of Clemente Avenue regarding a loud music call. The disturbing party was cooperative and turned down the music.
March 4
- Deputies responded to Quail Canyon Road regarding a 911 hang up call. Deputies determined no assistance was needed and there was probably an issue with the phone line.
March 5
- Deputies responded to the 200 block of Clarissa Avenue regarding someone yelling outside a residence. Deputies contacted the disturbing party and calmed him down. No crimes had been committed.
