The following is the Avalon’s Sheriff’s Stations significant incidents report for the period of Aug. 8 to Aug. 14, 2024. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.

August 8

  • A sergeant on patrol observed an Off Highway Electric Motorcycle riding at Crescent and Whittley. He conducted an enforcement stop and cited the driver.
  • A sergeant on patrol cited an Off Highway Electric Motorcycle on Avalon canyon Road.

August 9

  • Avalon Station personnel conducted an electric bike enforcement operation throughout the city. During the operation they issued 8 citations for various violations.

August 10

  • Deputies responded to a disturbance call on Catalina Avenue. The caller stated an elderly man was drinking in front of the business.

The deputies contacted the man and recognized him from countless contacts for the same violation. They kindly asked the man to discard his beer and go home. The man happily agreed and went on his way.

August 11

  • Deputies responded to Emerald Bay for a safety call. The caller stated people were riding Jet Skis without life vests. When the deputies arrived, the skis were already moored with no riders aboard.

August 12

  • Deputies responded to the Botanical Gardens for a man with no shirt on smoking marijuana. They contacted the man and determined he was not smoking marijuana and was just basking in the sun and enjoying the beautiful garden. The man left without incident.
  • Deputies responded to a disturbance call at a restaurant on Crescent Avenue. The caller stated a man was being aggressive with staff. The deputies quickly arrived and learned the man had already left. He must have known he was in a small town and the sheriff’s station was just around the corner.

August 13

  • Deputies responded to a disturbance involving a drunk man at a hotel. The caller stated a man with no shirt and tattoos was being very loud and disruptive in the hallway. The deputies contacted the man, told him it was past his bedtime, and it would be in his best interest to stay inside his hotel room. The man clearly understood.
