Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of April 22 to April 28, 2020. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.
April 22
• Deputies were provided with a surveillance video showing two suspects stealing handlebar grips off of a victim’s bicycle which was parked next to the public library. Both suspects have been identified and the case will be presented to the District Attorney’s Office.
April 23
• Deputies received a call of domestic violence incident where a female and male were screaming and yelling in a residence at the Sol Vista condos. Deputies arrived and arrested Tania Sabir from Avalon on suspicion of assault.
April 24
• Two Harbors Deputies responded to Howland’s Landing regarding four people on the closed beach. The four were warned about the beach closure and left the beach.
April 25
• Deputies responded to a boyfriend/girlfriend disturbance on Tremont Street. Deputies were unable to locate the disturbing party. No crimes appeared to have been committed.
April 26
• Deputies responded to the end of Falls Canyon Road regarding someone that burglarized several boats and vehicles. The suspect stole tools and other items from several different victims. During the investigation, the deputies located most of the stolen items in an Avalon resident’s vehicle near Pebbly Beach. The stolen items that were located were returned to the victims. The investigation is ongoing.
April 27
• Two Harbors Deputies received a call that rangers found two guns on the beach at Ripper’s Cove. The guns turned out to be a flare gun and a rusted bb gun.
April 28
• Deputies responded to the 300 block of Tremont Street regarding a domestic violence incident. Deputies arrested Kallen Little from Avalon on suspicion of domestic violence assault and for committing multiple burglaries and thefts. Deputies served a search warrant at his residence and recovered additional stolen property related to the recent crimes. The stolen items were returned to the victims.
