Lt. Col. Jon Huggins to be Air Show announcer
In an encore presentation, the announcer for the 2013 Scheyden Catalina Air Show will once again be U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Jon “Huggy” Huggins.
The air show will be held Saturday, Oct. 26, in Avalon with static displays at the airport the following day. Aerobatic performances officially begin at 1 p.m. Saturday. However, rehearsals will be held throughout the morning.

No stranger to air shows, Lt. Col. Huggins has spent much of the past 20-plus years hanging around air shows as a flying performer, working static displays, and being a self-described all-around aircraft “bum.”
His interests include not only the popular civilian and military airplanes currently on the air show circuit, but also the many spectacular classic war birds and experimental aircraft flying today.
In 2007, he decided to put his knowledge to use and started announcing air shows on the West Coast, receiving great reviews from the general public and seasoned performers alike.
When he isn’t announcing an air show or visiting his local airport, he works full time as a USAF U-2 and T-38 Instructor Pilot in the 1st Reconnaissance Squadron at Beale AFB. He is one of only seven U-2 pilots allowed to give interviews by the Air Force.
Huggins is an Air Force Command Pilot with over 7000 military pilot hours. He has more combined T-38 and U-2 flight time than any pilot in the last quarter century and has had the opportunity to fly more than 90 different military and civilian aircraft.
As an aviation enthusiast, Huggins enjoys learning the history of just about anything related to aviation related and enjoys hearing the personal stories of all pilots, famous or not.
