Workers on the island were laid off from various jobs, after a slow summer season. An estimated 25 people were released from their employment at various sites, by The Catalina Island Company, this week. The Island Company operates a number of properties and businesses on the island.
When reached by phone for information on the report, Santa Catalina Island Company declined to comment on the report at this time.
