Islander Pet of the Week: Fred

Fred is a red merle Australian shepherd, approximately 4 years old. Shirley Meyers and Tim Morosco adopted him one year ago.

Fred was captured by animal control after he was found running free in the high dessert. He was placed in “doggy jail” for the required seven days, and was then sent to be put down since there was no room for him at the pound. The Top Gun K-9 Rescue organization found Fred and saved him.

Fred is settling in nicely to his new loving home, but is still a “big old scaredy cat” when it comes to loud noises and other dogs. Although he doesn’t fetch or play games like other dogs his age, he is definitely showing signs of coming around and it is obvious that he is very loyal and loves his new Island home.
