The Catalina Island Museum recently announced the addition of Madeleine Gere as its new director of Development.

Gere is an experienced and knowledgeable development professional from Rancho Santa Fe, California. She has a background in fundraising, administration, marketing and high volume sales. Her specialties include major gifts, annual fund, planned giving and donor stewardship. With more than twenty years in the service/sales industries, Gere is known for nurturing loyalty through comprehensive relationship building programs.

Since 2008, she has served as Director of Development for three educational nonprofits and has spearheaded a successful capital campaign. Her entrepreneurial spirit and creative positive energy have brought these organizations increased revenue, enriched cultures of philanthropy, improved programs and a heightened sense of appreciation and gratitude toward all constituents. Born and raised in North San Diego county, Gere is also a second-generation Realtor with more than 18 years of residential real estate experience, offering her clients a broad range of market knowledge of the coastal and inland communities.

She became a Realtor in 1996 continuing the legacy of real estate excellence established by her father George Gere, who built and sold homes in the Covenant of Rancho Santa Fe for more than 30 years. Growing up in that area, Gere began riding horses to the beach and back at age 6. That led to an early career as a professional horse trainer, breeder and competitor. She is also a Certified Master Dog Trainer and remains active and passionate about training animals.

Gere moved to the island at the end of December. She looks forward to meeting the museum’s members, business partners and community members. The museum requests that you make her feel welcome when you see her at the museum or around town. The Catalina Island Museum offers the best in art and history exhibitions, music and dance performances, lectures by guest speakers from all over the world, and the finest in silent, documentary and international film. Open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., except New Year’s Day, July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. The new Ada Blanche Wrigley Schreiner Building is located in the heart of Avalon at 217 Metropole Ave. For more information, call 310-510-2414 or visit CatalinaMuseum.org.
