This is a brief round-up of Easter celebrations both secular and Christian on Catalina Island.
Just for children
• The free Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, April 16, at the Descanso Beach Club, First St. Catherine Way, in Avalon. Bring your own baskets.
Children up to age 3 start egg hunting at 10 a.m.; Children age 4-6 start at 10:15 a.m.; Children age 7-10 start at 10:30 a.m.; and Children 11-17 years start at 10:45 a.m.
• Easter Sunday at Two Harbors will feature an Easter egg hunt at 8 a.m., Sunday, April 17. The hunt for the “Golden Egg” is sponsored by the Corsair Yacht Club. For more information, visit www.visitcatalinaisland.com/two-harbors. You’ll need to go straight from the mainland to Two Harbors to make this event. The boat connecting Two Harbors and Avalon starts service after the event.
For children and adults
• St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church will hold an Easter Vigil morning prayer service at 8 a.m., Saturday, April 16, with a Mass at 7:30 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 17, English Mass will be held at 9 and 11 a.m. Spanish Mass will be held at 630 p.m.
• The Avalon Community Church will hold the annual “Sonrise” Service will at the Casino Point Dive Park at 6 a.m., Sunday, April 17. If you can’t attend in person, you can watch it live on Facebook. The praise lyrics are available online at avaloncommunitychurch.org.
