World-renowned performer Taimane will be the next star to take the stage in the Catalina Island Concert Series on Aug. 10, at 8 p.m. The free, family-friendly concert series takes place throughout the summer at Wrigley Stage overlooking Avalon Bay. Taimane last performed in the series in 2014.

The evening performance will begin with a beer garden, managed by volunteers from Avalon Rotary Club opening at 7 p.m. followed by Taimane taking the stage at 8 p.m. and performing until 10 p.m.

The Concert Series is brought to you by Love Catalina Island Tourism Authority and is produced by The Perfect Event. Sponsors for the series include Catalina Island Vacation Rentals, Catalina Canyon Inn, Catalina Island Inn, Bluewater Grill, The Lobster Trap, El Galleon, Maverick Helicopters, Avalon Freight Services and Catalina Express.

Taimane is described as one of Hawaii’s most exciting artists. She recently released a new single, “Gotta Get It”, where she performs on the ukulele, but according to aficionados, goes where no other uke artists goes. Taimane is also the composer and performer of a sweet little song that is currently in use on Catalina Island Tourism ads and videos. That catchy tune ends with a “Cata, Cata, Catalina” refrain that is not easily forgotten after hearing it.

Visitors are encouraged to get to town early for the concert and enjoy some of the activities in and around Avalon. Enjoy some lounging at Descanso Beach Club, take in a Bison Tour and enjoy beachside dining where you can put your feet in the sand with your drink in hand. Overnight accommodations for Aug. 10 begin at $110 per night.
