Avalon voters go the polls April 10

The city of Avalon’s more than 1,800 registered voters will go the polls Tuesday to elect a mayor and two members of the city Council (see sample ballot, page 4).

In addition, voters will also decide the fate of Measure T, a proposed $1 each way cross-channel transit tax that is dedicated to the construction/expansion of the Catalina Island Medical Center able to meet earthquake standards.

Incumbent Mayor Anni Marshall faces a challenge from former Mayor Bob Kennedy and two council incumbents, Cinde MacGugen-Cassidy and Joe Sampson, face four challengers: Pam Albers, Ralph J. Morrow, Jr., Mark H. Alft and Steven Hoefs.

Voting begins at 7 a.m. and ends at 7 p.m. at City Hall in Avalon.
