Avalon Harbor activity report for February 2021

File photo

2021 is starting out as dry year. There were only 2 days of rain, totaling .03 inches. That’s more like dew than rain.

Avalon had only 20 boats arrive to the Harbor over Presidents’ Day weekend compared to 180 over the same holiday weekend in 2020, but still more than the 12 boats in 2019. However, the entire weekend had weather warnings. In fact, we had weather warnings the 2nd, 3rd and 4th weekends of February.

A woman was reported to have fallen off of the channel side of the Mole. In cooperation, the Catalina Express crew and Harbor Patrol were able to get a life ring to the woman and pull her out of the water onto a Harbor Patrol boat. The woman was then assessed by Baywatch Avalon for any possible injuries. The circumstances under which the woman ended up in the water are under investigation.
