Avalon showed its Pride and support for the LGBTQ+ community and allies on June 15.
“Love Catalina, Jim Luttjohann and I would like to thank everyone who did attend Pride,” said Councilmember Michael Ponce during the June 18 City Council meeting.
“It was a great event; year three, looking forward to year four, and we did get quite a few people from the mainland who came over to enjoy it,” Ponce said. “It was a good event and I look forward to more and it seems to be growing. We actually had more booths this year, Ponce said.
Earlier this month, the council recognized June as LGBTQIA-plus month.
