This year’s theme pays tribute to the era when Avalon and Catalina Island flourished in the 1920s and 1930s. During this time, the Casino was being built, Hollywood elites began choosing the island as their preferred vacation spot, and the biggest swing bands performed at the Casino. It was also the period when Avalon School and the Yacht Club were established. This year’s Grand Marshal is Commodore John Wells of the Yacht Club, celebrating the historic beginning of 100 years of the Catalina Island Yacht Club.
