The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the period of May 1 to May 21.

Station commander, city officals go to 47th annual tribute to fallen officers
On May 18, 2016, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department hosted a special tribute to several fallen peace officers who were killed in the line of duty between 1925 and 2015. Out of respect for the officers and their families, the Honorable Ann Marshall, mayor of Avalon and the Honorable Tim Winslow, a former Avalon council member, attended the ceremony in La Mirada. Their support for the men and women in law enforcement was much appreciated.
May 1 to May 4
• No significant incidents.
May 5
• At 4 p.m., Angel Sanchez, 18, an Avalon resident, was arrested on suspicion of making criminal threats.
May 6
• Two flags (an American and a POW) were stolen from the 100 block of Pebbly Beach Road.
May 7 to May 9
• No significant incidents.
May 10
• At 11:50 p.m., Phillip Ponce, 21, an Avalon resident, was arrested on suspicion of an alleged assault.
May 11
• No significant incidents.
May 12
• At 10:15 p.m., Skyler Kachurak, 26, a resident of Nevada, was arrested on suspicion of being drunk in public.
May 13
• No significant incidents.
May 14
• An Avalon resident reported being the victim of a theft at the hands of another Avalon resident.
May 15
• A battery between two female juveniles occurred at Casino Way. The incident is under investigation. Anyone with information regarding the matter is encouraged to contact Detective Martin at Avalon Station.
May 16
• Two individuals (a male and a female tourist) entered a home in the 300 block of Catalina Avenue without the owners’ permission. After being in the home for a short period of time, the female vandalized a closet door.
• At 3:10 p.m., Jonathan Torres, 21, a resident of Avalon, was arrested on suspicion of a misdemeanor warrant.
May 17 to May 18
• No significant incidents.
May 19
• An Avalon resident reported being the victim of a vandalism after a window to her residence was shattered and property inside her home was damaged.
May 20
• An Avalon resident reported being the victim of passed counterfeit check.
• An Avalon resident reported being the victim of a battery at the hands of another Avalon resident on May 14, 2016.
May 21
• A resident of Covina reported being the victim of a battery after he was punched and fell to the ground.
• An Avalon resident reported her vehicle was vandalized while it was parked in the 300 block of E. Whittley Avenue.
