Reward
The Santa Catalina Island Company is offering a $1,000reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the burglary at the Descanso Beach Club on Saturday, Sept. 5. August 28
• At 11:30 a.m., Willie Richards, 65, an Avalon resident, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
• Deputies investigated a report of suspected child abuse on Vieudelou Avenue. They determined there was no evidence of a crime.
• A visitor to the island was cited for trespassing and operating a low flying aircraft at Two Harbors.
August 29
• A pick-up truck was involved in a minor collision in the Tour Plaza.
August 30
• At 6:50 p.m., Nicholas Bogard, 26, an Avalon resident, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
August 31
• No significant incidents.
September 1
• At 6:22 p.m., Christopher Bonjour, 25, a visitor from Arizona, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
• At 9:05 p.m., an Avalon resident was arrested for alleged spousal assault.
September 2-September 4
• No significant incidents.
September 5
• A Burglary occurred, late at night into the early morning hours, at the Descanso Beach Club.
September 6
• At approximately 1 a.m., two small boats were involved in a collision just outside of Avalon Harbor. A total of seven teenagers and young adults were involved. Tragically, several individuals were injured, one young man lost his life and another is missing. The Sheriff’s Department and the LA Port Police have been actively searching for the missing man each day since the collision. (For details, see the story on page 1.)
