Renton Minuto, 17, has qualified for the largest amateur motocross race in the world, the 34th Annual Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship presented by AMSOIL at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch. Renton took on over 22,000 hopefuls from across America to earn one of just 1,482 qualifying positions.

Renton spent the last four months qualifying for the event. He participated in multiple area qualifiers. The top nine riders from the area qualifiers went on to compete in the regionals. Only the top four riders from each of the regionals earned a gate position in the National Championship race at Loretta Lynn’s. Renton qualified in the highly competitive 250B Limited and Schoolboy 2 classes.

Renton has been riding since he was 2 years old. He started racing when he was 5 in the Big 6 GP Series. Three years ago, at the age of 14, Renton decided to pursue motocross as a career.

In 2013, he qualified for Loretta Lynn’s in the 250C (novice) class and placed 13th in the nation. Last year, the transition to the B class (intermediate) was a good one. He graduated from high school early and has been riding full time for over a year.

Renton continued making progress and training hard this year, racing in the TWMX series, Loretta Lynn qualifiers, and Mammoth Motocross.

With the help of local sponsors such as Caleb Lins, Lions Club of Avalon , Bob Kennedy, Tim Bombard, Island Rentals, Ron Whitaker, Josh Butte and Steve Bray, Renton has the opportunity to again make the trip.

The race action will be broadcast live daily at www.RacerTV.com, July 28 through Aug. 1.

In addition, two highlight shows featuring the event will air on NBC Sports Network on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 4 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 18 at 4:30 p.m. ET.
