Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Oct. 7 to Oct. 13, 2020.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.
October 7
• Deputies at Two Harbors responded to a fight call at Banning House Road. Deputies learned a suspect entered his ex-girlfriend’s residence and assaulted her male friend. The victim was not desirous of prosecution, so an arrest was not made.
• Deputies responded to the 300 block of Eucalyptus Avenue regarding a stolen golf cart. As the deputies arrived, good Samaritans were detaining the suspect. Deputies arrested a 14-year-old Avalon juvenile for suspicion of grand theft auto, minor in possession of marijuana, and driving without a driver’s license.
October 8
• Deputies were called to the 500 block of Crescent Avenue regarding a disturbance. Deputies learned a female victim accidently bumped into a male on Crescent Avenue and apologized to him. The man followed the victim and spit on her. Deputies were unable to locate the man but did obtain a photograph of him. The investigation is ongoing.
October 9
• A victim came into the Avalon Sheriff’s Station and reported he left his cell phone charging in an outlet at 1 Casino Way. When he returned, his cell phone had been stolen. (Please do not leave your cell phone unattended in a public place.)
October 10
• Deputies were at Sumner Avenue and Beacon Street when they saw a golf cart hit the curb and the driver fell out of the golf cart. Deputies determined the driver was drunk. They arrested Cristal Mulgado, 28, Avalon on suspicion of drunk driving.
• Deputies responded to the 100 block of Crescent Avenue regarding a male and female yelling at each other and throwing items off a balcony. Deputies arrested Blanca Morales, 33, of Colton on suspicion of domestic violence assault.
October 11
• Deputies responded to 1 Cabrillo Mole regarding customers refusing to wear face coverings while on the Catalina Express boat. The deputies escorted the disturbing parties off the boat.
October 12
• Deputies conducted high visibility patrols regarding speeding vehicles on Pebbly Beach Road. Remember, the speed limit is 20 miles per hour. Deputies will be issuing citations to speeding motorists.
October 13
• Deputies responded to the 600 block of Crescent Avenue regarding a missing 4-year-old. Deputies were able to locate the missing child with the assistance of his family. The child was safe and playing nearby.

If you drink alcohol, please do not drive. If you are stopped by the deputies, you will be arrested if you are drunk driving, 23152(a)CVC and 23152(b)CVC.
