City officials will make a decision next week about whether to reopen outdoor playgrounds for public use. The state government issued new rules for outdoor playgrounds earlier this week.
“And it does seem that the county is letting cities open up playgrounds at their discretion following protocol they have in place for it as of Friday, October 1st,” wrote Community Services Director Dan Huncke in an Oct. 1 email. “The city of Avalon will be reviewing the protocol and making a decision early next week on what direction they plan to take.”
According to a document dated Monday, Sept. 28, but posted Tuesday, Sept. 29, the California Department of Public Health issued guidance for using outdoor playgrounds in parks and campgrounds and places where the public can access them.
