Editor’s note: The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of March 4 to March 10, 2020. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Many people who are arrested do not get prosecuted in the first place and many who are prosecuted do not get convicted.
March 4
• Deputies and first responders responded to Camp Fox regarding an unresponsive 47 year old female from Goleta, California. Despite everyone’s efforts to revive the female, she passed away from apparent natural causes.
March 5
• Deputies arrested Isaac Rios from Avalon for suspicion of possessing a methamphetamine smoking pipe. He was also charged with an outstanding $20,000 warrant for resisting law enforcement officers.
March 6
• Deputies and first responders responded to a traffic collision on Pebbly Beach Road where a golf cart overturned. One female adult suffered serious facial injuries. She was transported to the local hospital and then airlifted to a trauma center on the mainland.
• Deputies arrested David Garcia from Avalon on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine at Tremont Street and Sumner Avenue.
March 7
• Deputies arrested Adela Quintero from Long Beach on suspicion of public intoxication in the 400 block of Crescent Avenue. Deputies also arrested Carmen Perez-Ramirez from Long Beach for suspicion of assaulting another woman.
March 8
• Deputies received a call of two missing 5-year-olds at Beacon Street and Clemente Avenue. The two were located safe at one of the missing girl’s residences.
March 9
• A victim came into the Avalon Station to report that her debit card had been used all over the United States. The victim does not know how her debit card number was compromised.
March 10
• Deputies arrested Jose Rodriguez from Avalon was arrested on suspicion of possessing methamphetamine. He was in the 300 block of Las Lomas Road after deputies were called to a residence regarding a trespassing violation.
• Deputies arrested Nicholas Bogard from Avalon in the 100 block of Catalina Island based on two outstanding warrants. Both were for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. One was for $30,000 and the other was for $15,000.
