Sheriff’s Log: Sept. 18-Sept.23

The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Sept. 18 to Sept. 23.

September 18

The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of Sept. 18 to Sept. 23.

September 18

• At 1:30 p.m., Luis Tamayo, M/30, an Avalon resident, was remanded by the Court to the custody of the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department pending the disposition of his open criminal cases.

• At 7 p.m., Joshua Trevino, M/43 a resident of Azusa, was arrested for possession of Methamphetamine and obstructing a peace officer in the performance of his duties at the Cabrillo Mole.

• At 7:25 p.m., Laura Smith, F/46, a resident of San Dimas, was also arrested for possession of Methamphetamine at the Cabrillo Mole.

September 19

• Sheriff’s Department personnel assisted the Alcohol Beverage Control with a decoy operation and licensing checks of several establishments throughout Avalon. One citation was issued.

• One oil painting was reported stolen from the Art Show on Crescent Avenue.

September 20

• At 3:05 p.m., Amy Wills, F/27, an Avalon resident, was arrested for burglary.

• A purse was reported stolen from a business in the 100 block of Metropole Avenue.  

September 21

• At 3 p.m., Edwin Orta, M/54, a resident of Long Beach, was arrested after he jumped off the Catalina Express.  

He was charged with being drunk in public and obstructing a waterway.

• At 6:15 p.m., Brian Browe, M/41, a resident of Michigan, was arrested for being drunk in public.

September 22

• At 3:05 p.m., Ronaldo Ochoa, M/37, a resident of Hawaiian Gardens, was arrested on Crescent Avenue for being drunk in public.

• At 4:05 p.m., Amanda Hughes, F/24, a resident of Los Angeles, was arrested on the Green Pier for being drunk in public.

• At 8 p.m., Sergio Carrillo, M/28, a resident of Hawaiian Gardens, was arrested in the lobby of the Sheriff’s Station for possession of an open container of alcohol and being drunk in public.    

September 23

• A defrauding an innkeeper report was taken for an incident that occurred in the 100 block of Clarissa Avenue earlier in the month.

• A non-criminal domestic violence report was taken for an incident that occurred in the 100 block of Vieudelou Avenue.

Next Sheriff’s Neighborhood Outreach

• On October 1, from 5 to 6 p.m., the public is invited to join Capt. Doug Fetteroll and some of his (bilingual) deputies for a cup of coffee at the next Neighborhood Outreach meeting.  

The meeting will be held at Pete’s Cafe and is for the purpose of sharing ideas regarding community policing while focusing on the future.      

Golf carts

A golf cart was taken from the 200 block of Whitley Avenue and was later found by deputies in the 300 block of Sumner Avenue.
