The members of the Avalon Lions Club wish to thank the Catalina Islanders and Catalina Mainlanders for their outstanding support of the 2018 Christmas Charity Raffle. The raffle generated enough money to provide a $1,500 donation to the Avalon Christmas Basket Program and to pay for most of the purchased prizes. All the prizes bought by the Lions Club, for the raffle, were purchased from two Avalon Businesses at discounted prices.
Many thanks to Chet’s Hardware and to the Avalon Tech Shack. In addition, members of the Avalon Chamber of Commerce donated great prizes and gift certificates from their Island business as well.
This year’s Avalon Lions Club Christmas Raffle was fantastic because of the caring support of people who love Catalina Island.
A record number of 41 prizes were won this year. The grand prize, a six-passenger golf cart, was won by Paul Moritz. Avalon Lion Conrado Vega arranged this prize and will provide another golf cart for the 2019 raffle. The one-year Catalina Cable TV subscription, worth over $1,000, was won by Tess Adarago. Catrina Awalt of Two’s Company Gift Shop donated two $150 gift cards, Brady Budd a Mainland Islander donated $300 in memory of Michael Edward Budd and James L. Hunka. The Santa Catalina Island Company donated a two-night stay at the Pavilion Lodge and at the Banning House.
The 2019 Avalon Lions Christmas Raffle will be held on the Saturday before Christmas Dec. 21, 2019. Ticket sales will begin on Saturday Dec. 7, 2019. Good luck to everyone for the next Avalon Lions Club Christmas Raffle.
The 2019 Avalon Lions Club Membership Drive will begin with the start of the New Year.
