Catalina Island Medical Center is offering the season’s first Flu Vaccine Clinic for the public on Friday Nov. 22. No appointment is necessary.

Drop by the outdoor entry area of the Medical Group Office at 100 Falls Canyon Road between the hours of 8-11 a.m., 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. or 2-4:30 p.m. It just takes a few minutes to pay the fee ($25) and get a very important “shot in the arm.”

Having a flu shot is the single best way to prevent the flu, protect you from spreading the flu to your family, friends and co-workers and avoid having to visit the doctor or urgent care.

Everyone older than 6 months of age should get a flu shot this winter. If you have never had a flu shot please allow an additional 15-20 minutes after receiving the vaccine to be monitored.

In 2012, the Medical Center administered 300 flu vaccines over three days. Additional Flu Vaccine Clinics are being scheduled to take place following Thanksgiving. Your flu shot cost may be covered under Medicare or the Vaccines for Children Program. For more information call (310) 510-0096.

Take a sot for a healthier you instead of the flu.
