The Avalon High School girls volleyball team has captured its fourth league championship in seven seasons, finishing league play with an impressive 6-2 record and earning a spot in the CIF Southern Section playoffs next week.

After a slow start to the season, the Lancers continued to work, grow, and build chemistry as a team. Their perseverance began to pay off as the season progressed, with the players coming together and finding their rhythm when it mattered most. Through hard work, determination, and a commitment to one another, Avalon finished strong and secured the league title.

The championship marks another milestone for a program that continues to build a tradition of success. The Lancers previously won league championships in 2019, 2021, and 2024, adding the 2026 title to an impressive run over the past seven seasons.

Beyond the wins and losses, this season has been a testament to the team’s ability to overcome adversity, trust one another, and remain committed to a common goal. The players growth throughout the season has been a key part of their success, demonstrating what can happen when a team comes together and believes in one another.

With the league championship secured Avalon will now turn its attention to the CIF Southern Section playoffs, where the Lancers will look to carry their momentum into postseason competition. The playoff date, time, and opponent have yet to be determined.

For Avalon, the championship is not only a celebration of this year’s team but also another chapter in a program that continues to make its school and community proud.

Avalon volleyball continues to build a tradition of success, with the high school girls volleyball team capturing its fourth league championship in seven seasons and the middle school girls volleyball team completing another undefeated league season.

The success extends to the middle school level, where Avalon has completed an undefeated league season for the second consecutive year. The team will host a semifinal game on Wednesday at 1 p.m., with an opportunity to continue its postseason run on its home court.

What makes the middle school team’s accomplishment especially meaningful is that the Lancers have achieved this success while competing in a higher division than they did last season. The back-to-back undefeated seasons reflect the players’ continued development, dedication, and willingness to put in the work necessary to compete at a higher level.

Much of that growth begins before the school season even starts. The commitment these student-athletes demonstrate during summer workouts and preparation has helped establish a strong foundation for success. Their progress is a testament to the importance of investing in young athletes, developing their skills, and building a culture centered on teamwork, discipline, and accountability.

With both programs finding success, Avalon volleyball is demonstrating the value of developing student-athletes across multiple levels. The middle school program continues to prepare young players for the next step, while the high school team provides an example of what sustained commitment and teamwork can accomplish.

For a small island community, these achievements represent more than championship records. They reflect the hard work of the student-athletes and the pride of a community that continues to support its Lancers.

As the high school team prepares for CIF Southern Section competition and the middle school team gets ready for its semifinal matchup at home, Avalon volleyball has plenty of reasons to celebrate and more opportunities ahead to make school history.
