Two of our local junior golfers, Jose Pedroza and Aaron Meza recently competed in a Southern California Section Professional Golfers’ Association of America Junior Tour event at Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course in Irvine. Both boys played well and did a fine job representing Avalon. The tournament staff were pleasantly surprised and impressed to have players from Avalon participating in the event.

They knew it took an extra level of effort just to show up. Both Jose and Aaron are on the high school golf team.

Jose shot a 78 and finished tied for 6th. Aaron shot an 83 and placed tied for 13th.

This was Aaron’s 1st SCPGA event. Both players finished strong going 2 over par on the final nine holes.

Playing in events overtown is a great experience for the boys. They played a new golf course and experienced the chance to compete with players from all over Southern California. They shared contact information with other players and encouraged them to check out our own annual junior tournament held each April.

Catalina Jr Golf was able to sponsor their participation in this event. Thank you to all who have donated to our organization. Your support is helping our local youth pursue the game they love. And, it is not just a game, playing golf builds character, honesty, integrity, social skills and offers the opportunity to meet many people who may positively influence their life.

Well played Jose and Aaron!
