Deputies responded to 128 Catalina Ave. regarding a boyfriend-girlfriend argument. Upon their arrival, they contacted the two individuals. The deputies determined no crimes had been committed and both were allowed to leave.

A victim came to the Avalon Sheriff’s Station to report he had been assaulted by a woman he had been dating. The victim and suspect had been arguing over a cellular telephone. During the argument the suspect began punching the victim in the upper body. The investigation is on-going.

Deputies received a call that a fisherman was fishing near San Clemente Island on his boat when another fisherman started throwing “Marine Mammal Control Devices” (small explosive devices) onto the victim’s boat. The victim and the suspect have had prior negative encounters. The investigation is on-going.
July 6
Deputies responded to 120 Sumner Ave., regarding a domestic violence call. Deputies determined suspect Oscar Hernandez from Menifee, California had assaulted his girlfriend. Supsect Hernandez was placed under arrest on suspicion of domestic violence.
July 7
Deputies responded to Avalon Canyon Road near Hermit Gulch Campground regarding an overturned golf cart. The deputies learned that the driver appeared to be driving too fast and lost control of the golf cart. There were no serious injuries.

Deputies responded to Emerald Bay Boy Scout Camp regarding a person not beathing. Upon their arrival, deputies learned first responders had been giving a 60-year-old man, from Santa Ana, CPR for over 45 minutes trying to save his life. The man did not respond and ultimately passed away. It was determined the man died of apparent natural causes.
July 10
Deputies responded to a call where Darrell Grepiotis from Thousand Oaks had reportedly choked his wife on Crescent Avenue. Upon the deputies arrival, the suspect had left the scene. The victim complained of pain to her neck.
Deputies located the suspect nearby and placed Grepiotis under arrest on suspicion of spousal assault.
