“On May 16, 2023, the City Council completed the annual performance evaluation for the City Manager, in accordance with the terms of the employment agreement,” according to the staff report by Finance Director Matthew Baker.

“City Council directed staff to prepare an amendment to the compensation section of the Employment Agreement to provide a 5% merit increase to the City Manager’s base salary from $210,000 to $220,500 annually effective on the first anniversary of employment (February 1, 2023), when the City began the review process,” Baker wrote.

Technically, the vote amended the contract between Maistros and the city of Avlaon.

“Employee will receive cost of living increases as may be provided to other City employees during the term of the Agreement. Employee is also eligible for merit increases during the term of this Agreement at the discretion of and as may be negotiated by the City Council,” according to the employment agreement.

The merit increase is budgeted for fiscal years 2022-23 and 2023-24, according to Baker’s report.
