Water shutdown set for Thursday, May 31

Southern California Edsion will shut down the fresh water location at the Mole to minimize the impact on local businesses, according to a statement issued by the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau.

“You may have received an email over the weekend indicating that SCE has notified us of some planned road excavation work and fresh water valve replacements being done this week,” reported the Chamber in an email to members.

“We’ve received preliminary clarification from SCE that the fresh water shutdown location on Thursday, 5/31, has been moved to the Mole, in order to mitigate the impact on downtown businesses,” the Chamber reported.

“The water shutdown WILL impact the Green Pleasure pier, as well as water fountains located throughout downtown. The Green Pier restrooms will remain OPEN utilizing hand sanitizer. Water service will operate as normal in the rest of the downtown area,” the Chamber reported.
