Sunshine Scramble A Success

Fifty-five men and women competed in the Sunshine Scramble golf tournament on Sunday, July 15.

Proceeds went to the Catalina Island Medical Center Foundation to benefit women’s health. First place team members were Richard Kearns, Natasha Wiebe, Frankie Hunt, Val Schafer and Walt Puffer. Second place honors went to Steve Jordan, Shirley Jordan. Tino Rodriguez, Oren Carstarphen, and Elena Maria.

Second place honors went to Steve Jordan, Shirley Jordan. Tino Rodriguez, Oren Carstarphen, and Elena Maria.

The Third place team members were Francisco Bravo, Miguel Bravo, Alan Stearns, Petie Stearns, and Alison Osinski. The putting contest winner was Vi Defoe. Natasha Wiebe won long drive honors for women, and Gabe Hernandez won the long drive for men. Closest to the pin honors for women was Trudy Saldana, and for men was Doc (Jim) Serles.

The Sunshine Scramble was sponsored by the Catalina Island Women’s Golf Club. The Catalina Island Women’s Golf Club members gather each Thursday morning for a round of golf. All women golfers, Islanders and visitors, are welcome. Arrive by 8:15 a.m. to set up teams.
