It has been an exciting season on the diamond with several close games to cheer for.  The final game came down to Straight Up Builders and The Lobster Trap.  Straight Up Builders came up first and immediately struck first with Josh Flynn collecting an RBI on his triple, then later scoring on the double from Rachel McCormick.  The Lobster Trap came to play also.  They opened with a triple from Chuy Sillas, followed by three singles and a double from Jimmy Felix to have three come home.  Straight Up Builders took the lead back in the second with a three run home run from Cameron Cresswell.  In the third,  Straight Up Builders added to their lead with another three coming home.  Ryan Hinking had a double, but was thrown out at third on a good relay.  In the bottom of the inning Chuy Sillas was the solo run on an inside-the-park home run for The Lobster Trap.  Adam Nelson made a great dig at first to collect the third out.  In the fifth, Jose Cuevas had a triple and scored on the sacrifice fly.  The Lobster Trap matched the run with a solo shot from Manny Hernandez.  Straight Up Builders added an insurance run in the sixth off the double from Adam Nelson.  The Lobster Trap left Juan De La Cruz stranded at third after his triple to end the game with the score The Lobster Trap, 5; Straight Up Builders, 10.  For The Lobster Trap, Chuy Sillas and Juan De La Cruz had two hits.  Jimmy Felix, Gilbert Hernnadez, Manny Hernandez and Lupe Jimenez-Sanchez all contributed one hit.  For Straight Up Builders, Jose Cuevas was three for three.  Ryan Hinkley, Adam Nelson and Cameron Cresswell all collected two hits.  With one hit each were Josh Flynn, Rachel McCormick and Candace Luithle.  Paticipating softball team members wanted to thank their sponsors, Bravo’s Landscaping, Catalina Fire Extinguishers, Straight Up Builders and The Lobster Trap.  Without their support this league wouldn’t happen.  The players also wanted to thank the amazing groundskeeper Jim Felix. Summer Softball is next:  Women’s and Men’s applications are at 83 Sol Vista.  The league begins Thursday, June 18 and Friday, June 19.  See you on the diamond!
