The City of Avalon said it would like to thank all our residents and visitors for their patience and understanding during the City’s Roadwork Repair Project.

“We are aware of the inconvenience that it has brought to private citizens and business owners.” said a prepared satement. “Unfortunately, there have been a few streets that have been slurry sealed and barricaded to dry and then driven and/or walked through causing severe damage.

“As a result, vehicles and pedestrians have tracked the slurry throughout the town’s streets, sidewalks, and pedestrian walkways.

“These damaged streets will now have to be paved for a second time and regrettably cost the taxpayer more money, not to mention extending the length of time to complete the project.

“Due to rain, all repairs will be put to a stop on Thursday, November 8, 2012 and will resume Tuesday, November 13, 2012 weather permitting.

“Although, it has been a frustrating week please know that it is for the overall betterment of our community.

“Please be patient just a little while longer.  We thank you for your continued support.”
