“Ocean Awareness Challenge” set for Sept. 9-11, at Emerald Bay, Catalina Island

The inaugural “Ocean Awareness Challenge” event will be held Sept. 9-11 2016 at Emerald Bay, Catalina Island. The deadline to register is Aug. 24. The event is sponsored by the Woman’s Sailing Association-Orange County. Come explore Catalina Island’s natural coastal terrain while learning more about local marine life and how we can make a difference to preserve our natural coastal resources and fragile eco systems. Several notable marine science experts will be speaking at the event.

The event is sponsored by the Woman’s Sailing Association-Orange County. Come explore Catalina Island’s natural coastal terrain while learning more about local marine life and how we can make a difference to preserve our natural coastal resources and fragile eco systems. Several notable marine science experts will be speaking at the event. While the weekend is focused on marine preservation and education, an abundance of fun activities will also be offered. Participants will have a first-hand look at our local protected marine areas through a variety of hands-on eco activities including a guided Eco-snorkeling tour, hikes, kayaking and marine touch tanks.

and adventurous summer camp environment. Together we can make a difference to improve  the health of our ocean.

Event Location:
*The OAC Event is being held at: Mountain & Sea Adventure Camp Emerald Bay, Catalina Island.

There are three transportation options available to the OAC event at Emerald Bay:
1) Arrive by your own boat, moor/anchor at Emerald Bay, (sleep aboard your own boat or MSA tent or cabin w/reservations).
2) San Pedro Catalina Express Ferry to Two Harbors (from Two Harbors you will be transported by MSA staff to Emerald Bay.
3) Mountain & Sea Adventures Mini Cruise Ship: From Newport Beach *(details will be provided after completion of registration) $72.00 p/p roundtrip

 

The OAC event is ideal for families, couples, groups and singles, too. The “Ocean Awareness Challenge” seeks to Educate, Challenge and Conserve our fragile coastal resources.
