Lancers boys basketball shines

The Avalon Lancers boys volleyball team keeps on winning.

The Lancers have had one of the best seasons going 16-2. They have been ranked as high as #8.

The Lancers have earned a playoff spot and have declared themselves as the second place team in the San Joaquin league.

The Lancers traveled to Capistrano Valley Christian and defeated them in two matches with scores of 25-18, 25-19, 11-25, 25-16.

The Lancers traveled to Capistrano Valley Christian and defeated them in two matches with scores of 25-18, 25-19, 11-25, 25-16.

The Lancers were led by Alex Herrera with 34 digs, 7 aces, and 41 serve receives. Saul De La Rosa was also a big part of the game having 11 kills, 8 blocks and 2 aces. In the second match the Lancers boys volleyball team won in three games with scores of 25-11, 25-16, and 25-22. The Lancers were led by senior outside hitter Alberto Rodriguez with 16 kills, 12 digs, 11 serve receives, 5 aces, 2 assists.

The Alcala brothers, Christopher and Jairo combined had over 33 assists together.

On Wednesday, May 7, the Lancers faced Emerson Honors and were victorious once again helping there record improve to 16-2 and 5-1 in league play. The first match the lancers won 25-13, 25-10, 25-10 they were lead by senior captain Jairo Alcala with 12 kills, 21 assists, 4 aces.

Before the second match started each coach had a couple kind words to say to these young fellows from the class of 2014 before their year comes to an end.

In the second match the Lancers took awhile to open up their offense but halfway through the game Alberto Rodriguez came alive having 18 kills, 8 aces, 14 digs.

The Lancers won by scores of 25-11, 25-22, 25-16.

The coaches would like to give thanks to the six seniors for their hard work and commitment to this program and for being great role models and young leaders to the underclassmen!
