January Special brings out the best in women golfers

On Thursday, Jan. 4, a small contingent of women golfers braved the blustery weather to participate in the group’s January special monthly theme tournament.   

First place honors went to Alison Osinski.  Sue Muller and Marty Ashleigh tied for second place.   Cathy Sweeney was the winner of both special awards:  closest to the hole and longest drive.

Three golfers were recognized for special ninth-hole green honors:  Donna Harris, Gail Fait, and Cathy Sweeney.  A festive awards luncheon was held at Steve’s Steakhouse immediately following the tournament.

The Catalina Island Women’s Golf Club meets every Thursday morning for a nine-hole round of golf.   

All women golfers, both islanders and visitors, are welcome and encouraged to participate.  Plan to arrive at the table area outside the Country Club Golf pro-shop by 8:45 a.m. to set up teams.
