Avalon also owns an impressive nine-game winning streak, which it started stringing together after falling to Santa Clarita Christian in the season opener.

It lost that contest by the score of 11-7.

On April 13, Avalon played its most recent contest against league foe Fairmont Prep, which it easily defeated with a 23-6 triumph on the road to sweep a two-game series.

In all, the Lancers mustered 18 hits, with three players delivering multiple-hit performances.

This list included junior slugger Vanessa Sanchez, who went 4-for-5 with three homers and six RBI. Sanchez, whose batting average is .613 with six homers, also started on the rubber and threw four innings to improve her pitching record to 3-0.  Though she surrendered five earned runs, which increased her ERA to 2.00, she chalked up three strikeouts.

Freshman Kiya Hernandez also went 4-for-5 with a double and a triple and Marisa Morones smacked a triple and homer to knock in a team-high five RBI.

Last year, Avalon finished in second place in league play behind Liberty Christian.
