Catalina Express and Straight Up Builders Get Wins

The first game featured Glenmore Hotel and Catalina Express.  Catalina Express started off strong with three runs.  Two more followed in the bottom of the second.

In the third, Glenmore Hotel got on the board with three base hits and an error that scored three runs, followed by the two run homer from Jorge Hernandez to tie the game.  Catalina Express regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the inning. 

The first game featured Glenmore Hotel and Catalina Express.  Catalina Express started off strong with three runs.  Two more followed in the bottom of the second.

In the third, Glenmore Hotel got on the board with three base hits and an error that scored three runs, followed by the two run homer from Jorge Hernandez to tie the game.  Catalina Express regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the inning. 

Defense ruled the next two innings.  Glenmore Hotel tied the game in the top of the sixth.  Catalina Express answered back with a rally that put together six base hits, two walks and an error to have six cross the plate to regain the lead.  The lead see-sawed again in the top of the seventh.  Glenmore Hotel had four runs home when Santiago Martinez hit an inside the park home run to score three runs and regain the lead. 
With time expired, Catalina Express got their last at-bat, and made the most of it.  With one out, Catalina Express scored two to win the game.  Final score was Glenmore Hotel 13, Catalina Express 14.

For Glenmore Hotel, Billy Boyd was three for three with a walk.  Santiago Martinez also collected three hits.  Sean Amoroso, Jorge Hernandez, Jim Amoroso and Edmundo Vega all had two hits.  Mario Jimenez, Jr., Phil Lopez, Garrett Amoroso, Michael Rodriguez and Dehler Amoroso all contributed one hit. 

For Catalina Express, Eddie Hall was three for three.  Justin Hernandez also collected three hits.  Josh Flynn had two hits.  With one hit each were Chuy Sillas, Adam Nelson, Curtis Hall, Joey Hall and Bart Glass.

Straight Up Builders versus Bravo’s Landscaping

The second game of the night was between looking for a win Straight Up Builders, and undefeated Bravo’s Landscaping.  Straight Up Builders ended the first with two runs.  A small time out followed while Cookie the Dog ran the outfield. 

Straight Up Builders continued the offensive drive with another six runs in the second before Marco Gallegos hit the dirt at second and still threw out Allan Vega to end the inning. Straight Up Builders added one more in the third.  Larry Hernandez showed his great reflexes at pitcher to rob Kenny Engel of the base hit. 

In the bottom of the fourth Bravo’s Landscaping got on the board with Weston Leonhardi’s two RBI home run.  One more run followed.  Bravo’s Landscaping added another run in the fourth.  Straight Up Builders had two more cross the plate in the sixth before Allan Vega was again robbed, this time by Kenny Engel catching the pop fly out of bounds. 

The game continued to be all Straight Up Builders, with another six runs in the seventh.  Joe Hernandez led off the seventh for Bravo’s Landscaping with a home run.  An out later, Robert Reyes hit an inside the park homer for the second run of the inning.  Straight Up Builders added to their lead with a run in the eighth, followed by five more in the ninth.  Two of the runs came from Mickey Mann’s inside the park home run. 

Bottom of the ninth, and Bob Kennedy started with his fourth hit of the game.  Bravo’s Landscaping continued to struggle offensively, and only one run scored.  The game ended with the score Bravo’s Landscaping 7, Straight Up Builders 23.

For Bravo’s Landscaping, Bob Kennedy was four for four.  Weston Leonhardi and Joe Hernandez collected two hits.  Marco Gallegos, Dave Hubert, Robert Reyes, Kenny Engel and Gilberto Gamboa all had one hit. 

For Straight Up Builders, Beto Martin was four for four.  J.D. Laflin also had four hits.  Larry Hernandez, Mario Jimenez Sr., Mickey Mann and Juan De La Cruz collected three hits.  Isaac Felix and Allan Vega had two hits, while Dustin Cookman and Mario Chavez contributed one hit.
