For the third consecutive year the Avalon Boys Golf team finished at the top of the San Joaquin Valley League Individual Tournament and will march into the CIF Regional Playoffs once again.

Avalon finished the season undefeated in both league and non-league competition and then proceeded to dominate the league individual tournament.

Gabe Hernandez led the way for Avalon as he captured his second consecutive league individual championship once again defeating all of the other golfers from the league in a two-day tournament. Hernandez has been a champion both on the golf course and in the classroom for the past four years.  He will attend Hawaii Pacific University in the fall on a partial athletic/academic scholarship awarded to him for his outstanding performance and his potential for future success.  He has represented Avalon with class and character for the past 4 years and is deserving of all the support that has come his way.

Gabe Hernandez was not the only Avalon golfer to shine at the Individuals Tournament as Avalon names appeared all over the leader board for both days of the tournament.

Junior Anthony Hernandez Perez finished the tournament in second Place, while Gabe’s younger brother, also named Anthony, finished in third Place.

Senior Juan Pablo Bravo finished in fifth place and Senior Ricardo Tamayo finished in sixth Place.

All 5 golfers gained All League Honors for their strong performance and the top three, Gabe, Anthony and Anthony all qualified for C.I.F. Individuals, to be held at Skylinks Golf Course, on Monday, May 13. The team will compete in the C.I.F. Team Regionals at Tijeras Creek on Monday, May 6. Congratulations to the Lancer Linksters for an outstanding team and individual performance and many thanks to all those who have and continue to support our program. We could not do it without such a giving  community.”
