When washing dishes by hand, don’t let the water run. Fill one basin with wash water and the other with rinse water.

Dishwashers typically use less water than washing dishes by hand. Now, Energy Star dishwashers save even more water and energy.

The following is the Avalon Sheriff’s Station significant incidents report for the week of June 4 to June 10.

"It is important to note that no assumption of criminal guilt or affiliation should be drawn from the content of the information provided in this report," said Capt. Doug Fetteroll, commander of the station.  "Many people who get arrested do not get convicted or even charged with crimes for which they have been arrested."

As one of Avalon’s premier venues for special events, Overlook Hall marked its first anniversary as a special events venue on June 1.
This milestone was made extra special by its hosting of a media crew of creative professionals working on Bud Light’s Up for Whatever event.
Buzzing with energy, Overlook Hall was transformed into a round-the-clock media center for a solid week before and during the festivities.

A statement from the Institute for Wildlife Studies (IWS), which is in charge of the bald eagle program and was doing the banding. Here is the statement from IWS:

Caci is an Americorps team member and is also a volunteer at the Catalina Island Humane Society trailer. She’s pictured on the right holding a female kitten about 8 weeks old. The Humane Society’s kitten adoption fee of $60 includes spay or neutering plus all shots.
Additional kittens from the same litter are pictured lower right.
Also looking for “forever homes” are (top left) an adult gray male who is very sweet and would be a great pet.
CIHS will waive the $60 adoption fee to find permanent placement for adult cats.
