The Avalon football team won its week two game against Faith Baptist Academy 53-6 last Friday for its second win in a row. Week 1 was all about the running game and week 2 was all about the passing. Avalon’s defense once again held strong and dominated the whole game.

Like a mighty mouse that roared, the Avalon High School Lancers football team has gone and done what others believed it could not do.

The Avalon High football team earned some major bragging rights. It topped Mojave High, the No. 1 ranked team, in the quarterfinal round of the CIF 8-Man Division playoffs on Friday, Nov. 8.

The team did the deed with a 41-27 win, overcoming 20-to-1 odds.

Since it was Senior Night and the Lancers needed a victory to advance in the CIF playoffs playing at home, there was a large crowd on hand for Avalon’s first playoff game against Dunn on a chilly Friday, Nov. 8.

With a team playing like a well-oiled machine, it didn’t take long for the Lancers to get going, pulling off a 74-24 victory.
