New doctor joins hospital board

 

 

The Avalon Medical Development Corporation recently announced the appointment of Catalina Island Medical Center’s director of Medical Services Dr. Monte Mellon to its Board of Directors.  He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the board as they address the challenges Medical Center is facing.  

 

 

The Avalon Medical Development Corporation recently announced the appointment of Catalina Island Medical Center’s director of Medical Services Dr. Monte Mellon to its Board of Directors.  He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the board as they address the challenges Medical Center is facing.  

Monte Mellon joined the Catalina Island Medical Center staff in 2009. Board certified in both family and emergency medicine, Mellon has nearly four decades of experience in emergency medicine. Before his move to CIMC,  Mellon worked at Scripps Memorial Hospital in San Diego and also founded an emergency medicine training practice in the United States Navy where he served for 20 years. An avid boater,. Mellon visited the island frequently before moving here full time with his wife Louella.

The Board meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 5:30 pm in the City Hall Conference Room. The board will be led by newly elected Chairman Michael Ponce, Vice-Chairman Conrado Vega, Secretary Lisa Moss and Treasurer Catrina Awalt.  Other members are Judy Grear, Trudy Saldana and Bea VanEvery.
