Located on the beautiful Descanso Beach cove and adjacent to the newly opened Catherine’s Terrace, Avalon welcomes Descanso Fresh, a gourmet espresso bar and cafe that will serve homemade grab-and-go favorites including breakfast pastries, fresh pressed juices and spiked ice cream confections for adults to usher in summer like never before.
Descanso Fresh is a throwback to the classic ice cream shoppe on the beach. Reflecting the island’s quintessential history and charm, Descanso Fresh features traditional décor elements including artwork from the famed St. Catherine Hotel and antique wall decorations.

Ice cream specialties are the highlight of the menu at Descanso Fresh. Signature offerings include Catalina Island’s celebrated Buffalo Milk ice cream and other alcohol-infused adult ice cream treats, in addition to gourmet illy coffee, milkshakes and smoothies. A perfect summer addition for guests relaxing on a nearby chaise lounge, Descanso Fresh will also feature grab-and-go breakfast items, afternoon snacks, juices and sweet treats such as s’mores crepes, cookies and croissants. Open to guests of all ages, menu prices range from $3-$12.
